Important Dates

The founder Major General Choi Hi 9th Degree Black Belt inaugurated Tae Kwon Do in South Korea on April 11th 1955 following extensive research and development. Sadly the General passed away on 15th June 2002.

The TAGB is a member of  Tae Kwon Do International. Tae Kwon Do International is a worldwide body with representation in every continent of the globe. Tae Kwon Do International was inaugurated on November 13th 1993.

On the 21st April 1988 a new governing body for Tae Kwon Do was formed called the British Tae Kwon Do Council (BTC). This incorporates 11 different organisations and is thr only body recognised by the U.K. Sports Council.

The T.A.G.B is a founder member and is also at present the largest organisation in the B.T.C. Current membership of the B.T.C. is over 25,000.

T.A.G.B. History.

Tae Kwon Do was introduced into the United Kingdom during 1967, but owing to subsequent political differences arising in Korea, first two then several competing groups came into existence. A number of these were and are dominated by foreign nationals with financial an political interests in what they are doing.A group of the most senior British Tae Kwon Do Instructors eventually became so disilliusioned with the situation that in 1983 they joined forces to form the Tae Kwon Do Association of Great Britain.

The T.A.G.B. contains some of the world's top Tae Kwon Do performers, with several European and World Champions.

The T.A.G.B. has grown to become the largest and most successful Tae Kwon Do practising organisation in Britain.

Since its inauguration, the T.A.G.B. has grown to become the largest and most successful Tae Kwon Do pracitising organisation in Britain with 20,000 members training in over 500 schools nationwide.
